David Van Gelder, Director of Bands, Patriot High School
The band program at Patriot High School is under the direction of Mr. David Van Gelder. Prior to his arrival at Patriot High School, he was the Director of Bands at Potomac Senior High School for seven years. His concert and marching bands have consistently earned “Superior” ratings and been recognized as a Virginia Honor Band. Originally from Syracuse, New York, Mr. Van Gelder earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music Education at Ithaca College. Mr. Van Gelder currently serves as the Virginia Music Educators Association District IX Chair and is a member of Phi Beta Mu, Pi Kappa Lambda, and Tri-M.
